Cyclone Exhibition 2025 Rochester Art Center- Project Grant
This garment was created in collaboration with Kat Barnett for the Cyclone exhibition at the Cyclone exhibition at the Rochester Center for the Arts.
The initial inspiration for the project came from samples collected during our research process. These samples served as the starting point for exploring natural dye techniques, material transformation, and the relationship between experimentation and garment design.
I am grateful to the Rochester Center for the Arts for the opportunity to develop this work and for the funding that made it possible to explore more complex natural dyeing techniques and experimental garment development.
This collaboration combined experimental natural dye research with contemporary garment construction, resulting in a piece that reflects a shared commitment to sustainable material exploration and craftsmanship.
Association for Nonsmokers–Minnesota (ANSR MN) Project | 2024
Created in collaboration with the Association for Nonsmokers–Minnesota (ANSR MN) as part of the Don't Discount My Life campaign, this project explored the relationship between art, design, and public health advocacy.
Project Highlights
Designed and screen monoprinted a series of posters using reclaimed Big Tobacco coupons as the printing medium for the Don't Discount My Life campaign.
Designed and constructed a jacket composed of thousands of discarded Big Tobacco coupons, transforming promotional waste into a statement on the impact of tobacco marketing.
Shot and edited a campaign video in collaboration with Liam Barnett, documenting the project and supporting ANSR MN's public awareness efforts.
This project demonstrates how sustainable design practices and material transformation can be used to communicate powerful social messages and engage audiences through wearable art, printmaking, and film.
The project has been exhibited at the Minnesota State Capitol, extending its reach beyond the campaign and engaging the public in conversations about tobacco prevention, sustainability, and the power of creative advocacy.
